2012 Search for Sir John Franklin’s lost ships

Follow the team as DFO's Canadian Hydrographic Service and Canadian Coast Guard along with several other government organizations, the University of Victoria and the Arctic Research Foundation search for HMS Erebus and HMS Terror, the lost ships of the Franklin expedition, and conduct other tasks contributing to greater Arctic understanding. On board the icebreaker CCGS Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the Canadian Hydrographic Service is co-leading the search with Parks Canada as well as conducting multibeam hydrographic surveys using two of its state-of-the-art survey launches and side-scan sonars to collect high definition data for charting new Arctic navigation routes.
